How to Do Barbell Deadlift

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, the barbell over mid-foot.
  2. Hinge at the hips and bend your knees to grip the bar just outside your legs.
  3. Brace your core, flatten your back, and drive through your heels to stand up.
  4. Lock out at the top with hips fully extended and shoulders back.
  5. Reverse the movement to lower the bar back to the floor under control.
